I have played Fallout 3 with over 40 mods installed --with very little problems -- unlike with Fallout New Vegas. I don't want to continue beating the same proverbial dead horse, but honestly this is beyond ridiculous.

While you find a solution for your cache problem you can delete your default_file and create a new file into your itembuilds folder if you have any trouble editing.
