If still nothing search your computer for and DELETE IT (if it's in a folder only) FYI: Fix #1 worked for me.

Mine was just looping and looping and was fixed instantly.

Properties Change it from ‘Disabled’ to ‘Automatic’ Run your Diablo 3 setup as administrator and it should quickly go through Updating Setup Files and bring you to an install screen. Fix #2 Right click on the Diablo 3 setup file you downloaded via the Blizzard Downloader Select Properties Choose Windows XP (Service Pack 3) (Note: Does not work on Vista.) Right Click the Icon, Run as Administrator. Delete your C:\Program Data\Blizzard Entertainment\Cache folder. Run the Downloader again, as administrator, and see if it gets past the “Updating Setup Files” window. Alternate location: C:/Documents and Settings/All Users/Application Data Application Data is a a hidden file so you'll need to click tools view tab and check show hidden files and folders.

The device just endlessly says Installer: Preparing (well, for about 45 minutes) when trying to update it.

As for ignition, it tries to install various files and either gets stuck while attempting to push to install, or tells me to reconnect the device.

After leaving the installer for ~30 minutes, it finally brings up an error stating it could not run the Blizzard agent; This gives me an error code - BLZPTS00007 - which gives me a few more google hits including a seemingly official guide on how to troubleshoot agent issues on Battle.net, however performing the steps listed under 'Advanced Troubleshooting' still hasn't resolved my problem.

How can I get past "Updating setup files..." when reinstalling Diablo 3, and what is error BLZPTS0007?

Running the installer, and while stuck in the "Updating files", kill in Task Manager.

Some report that it took few kills before it started to work, but as these issues with Mo P/D3 seem to be based on some black magic, nobody knows..

The only drive showing up is the i2 drive, no CD-Rom drive.

The updater line of the info file indicates "missing" and I certainly can't find the In file I remember seeing at one point either. I took a glance at it and, per the current version numbers listed on the website, my i2 is definitely out of date by more than a few versions so it ought to be telling me to update I'm pretty sure.
